FRIDAY DINNER

Local, affordable, and sustainably produced food will be served Friday, April 17, 2009 from 5:15pm - 7:00pm at the front entrance of California College of the Arts (CCA) SF Campus. Hosted by Chef Leif Hedendal and OPENrestaurant. Open to all. First-come, first-serve.

Leif Hedendal, an SF-based chef and artist, will be making available a selection of sandwiches made from very local ingredients, enveloped in personal stories about the farmers, bakers, and producers who supplied said ingredients. The idea is to take things a step further, from knowing where your food comes from, to learning a bit more about who is producing the food you eat and having a more personal relationship with them.

For the Rising Tide conference, OPENrestaurant, will be offering DON'T BAKE ALASKA, a frozen dessert with a warm meringue topping, usually called Baked Alaska. The dessert will be made of ingredients produced by agricultural practices addressing sustainability and global warming.
